Our present musical director is Alastair McDonald.  Although busy as a consultant of an Ayrshire based legal firm Alastair is passionate about music and spends much of his spare time participating in musical activities. 

He is an experienced player, accompanist, improviser and tutor on organ and piano and enjoys playing trombone, bass and hurdy gurdy when time permits. He has been involved over the years directing and taking part in numerous choral and instrumental groups. He particularly  enjoys working as a musician in live musical theatre. 

Alastair took over as our conductor in 2016 and has a desire to develop the musical capability and repertoire of the band while remaining a strong advocate of the band’s community-focused ethos.  He believes strongly in the beneficial and therapeutic qualities of ensemble playing as a means of improving mind and spirit and very much encourages the social 'family' that exists within the Band.
